Where is the venue?
Marsden Cove Marina, Ruakaka.
When is the competition being held?
15th-16th February 2019. You can check out key times and dates here.
Will the competition go ahead if it rains?
Yes. The Beach and Boat is going ahead rain, hail or shine. If weather conditions are dangerous, the coastguard will make a judgement call to stop fishing - but we'll still have a good time in the venue and give out prizes.
When will I get my tickets?
Bring your ID for tickets purchased online or in-store to the event office from midday Thursday 14th February to collect your AWOP wristband(ticket), angler pack, and any day passes or camping passes you have purchased.
What are the Key Times of the event?
Click here to go to our key times page to find out when things are happening.
Can my friend/partner/family attend the prizegiving?
Yes. But, they'll need to purchase a day pass to get into the venue. These can be purchased at the event for $10 if purchased with a fishing ticket, or $15 without. They can also be purchased online on the register page. Day passes for Saturday can sometimes sellout, so get in quick.
Where should I stay?
This year Beach and Boat is unable to offer a campground due to the increase housing in the area - we don’t want to impose on the local residents. There are other campground options in the area which we are currently working with to arrange shuttle services and will update you on this website and Facebook.
Where can I buy bait & ice?
We'll have ice, berley & bait available on site.
What happens to the weighed fish?
All weighed fish is sold by competition sponsors Salty Dog and the proceeds go to the local charities.
Can someone under 16 be entered in the senior category?
Yes! Anyone under 16 can choose whether they would like to be entered in the Senior or Junior category. If you're above 16 you have to enter the Senior category, however.
