The Beach & Boat Fishing Competition has come a long way over the last few years.
2011 sees the running of the 6th Beach and Boat, New Zealand's premier salt water fishing competition, but to be honest it's more than that.....The Beach and Boat is the largest 2 day, 5 species salt water fishing competition of its kind in the WORLD!

In 2011 its again ready to give an amazing weekend to thousands of people from as far away as the US, Australia and Canada and this year entrants' will see some great changes that will offer more than ever before.

To join our great team of sponsors this year DB Breweries and the Export Gold brand, this partnership will give the Beach and Boat a very strong brand to provide a great selection and a new energy to the event.. We are very excited to have DB Breweries and the Export Gold team on board and we know their professional approach will really help us to reach our goals of increasing the level of this event and providing an amazing weekend.

We are also very proud to have Ramco Boats involved and along with New Zealand best outboard brand Yamaha.. The new technology Yamaha have added to the event this year will see two super cool major prizes, along with new equipment from ENL, Furuno and Lowrance.

Shimano are also still a major sponsor with some of the best new equipment in the country, mix that with many other great prizes and you end up with an amazing prize pool.

So get in early and join the other entrants who travel from all over New Zealand and overseas for a weekend you'll be marking on your calendar every year.

Marsden Cove Marina, Ruakaka (approx. 1½ hour north of Auckland)

HOW MUCH:

  • $125 Senior Standard Ticket.
  • $99 Senior Early Bird (purchased before 31/12/10).
  • $20 Junior Standard Ticket (14yrs and under).
  • $10 Junior Early Bird Ticket (purchased with adults Early Bird tickets).
  • Late entries after the 18th $140
  • Entries close 4pm on the 24th Feb.

FISHING AREA & TIMES:

Competition boundaries extend from Bream Tail in the south to Homepoint at Whangaruru in the north, and out to and including Sail Rock, the Hen and Chicken Islands and the Mokahinau Islands.

The beach fishing area is the coastline as described (with the exception of outer islands).

Fishing starts 5.01am Friday 25/02/11 and ends 4pm Saturday 26/02/11.

CATEGORIES:

There are three different categories in the Beach & Boat tournament: Boat, Beach, Junior.

FISHING PRIZES:

  • SENIORS
    Prizes are awarded daily for each of the 2 categories (boat or beach,) separately. 1st, 2nd and 3rd heaviest in each species wins a prize. Eligible species are as follows:

    Boat category:
    snapper
    kingfish
    trevally
    john dory
    kahawai

    Beach category:
    snapper
    kingfish
    trevally
    kahawai

    After the daily prizegiving on the last night, overall winners (all categories compared) will be announced - 1st, 2nd and 3rd heaviest in each species. The heaviest snapper overall will be in the running for the coveted Furuno World Cup.

  • JUNIORS

    Juniors have one prizegiving on the last night. 1st, 2nd and 3rd heaviest in each species (same as seniors) will be awarded prizes, for beach and boat categories separately. Heaviest snapper overall will win the Shimano Junior Trophy.

    NB: Juniors not eligible for any of senior prizes, including Grand Entry Prize and Mystery Weight.

BONUS PRIZES:

Along with the daily prize pools check out the huge Early Bird prize draw, the Grand Entry and the Mystery Weight Prizes and also our new categories -heaviest snapper overall caught by a female, and most 'Unusual Catch of the Tournament' on this website.
