FISHING AREA & TIMES:
Competition boundaries extend from Bream Tail in the south to Homepoint at Whangaruru in the north, and out to and including Sail Rock, the Hen and Chicken Islands and the Mokahinau Islands.
The beach fishing area is the coastline as described (with the exception of outer islands).
Fishing starts 5.01am Friday 24 Feb 2012, and you must be in the weigh in queue no later than 4pm Saturday 25 Feb 2012.
FISHING CATEGORIES:
There are three different categories in the Beach & Boat fishing competition for Senior ticket holders: Boat, Beach or Kayak. There is a separate section for Junior ticket holders
- SENIORS
1st, 2nd and 3rd heaviest in each species wins a prize. Eligible species are:
Boat & Kayak (KFWC) category:
Snapper
Kingfish
Trevally
John dory
KahawaiBeach category:
Snapper
Kingfish
Trevally
KahawaiKayak (KFWC) category:

If you do not wish to be part of the KFWC but would still like to fish the competition from your kayak, then you must select the 'boat' category.After the daily prize giving on the Saturday night, the overall winners (all categories compared) will be announced - 1st, 2nd and 3rd heaviest in each species. The heaviest snapper overall will be in the running for the coveted Furuno World Cup.
- JUNIORS
Juniors have one prize giving on the Saturday night. 1st, 2nd and 3rd heaviest in each species (same as seniors) will be awarded prizes, for beach and boat categories separately. Heaviest snapper overall will win the Shimano Junior Trophy.
NB: Juniors not eligible for any of senior prizes, including Grand Entry Prize and Mystery Weight.
